Generation One

1952

James Henry Morgan

Morgan Oil · Ozark, Alabama

The Collier family's legacy in the fuel industry began more than seventy years ago. In Opp, Alabama, the family's great great great uncle owned a respected oil distribution company. On November 24, 1952, he helped James Henry Morgan establish Morgan Oil in Ozark, Alabama — beginning a family tradition that would span four generations.

James Henry Morgan built more than a successful company. He built a reputation. Known throughout the community for his generosity, kindness, and unwavering integrity, he believed that treating people well was just as important as doing the job right. Alongside his wife, Alice Leone Robinson Morgan, he earned the trust and respect of countless families and businesses — laying the foundation for values that continue to guide our family today.

Johnny & Marilyn Collier

Collier Oil Company

The next generation carried that legacy forward when their daughter, Marilyn Morgan, married Johnny Collier.

Together, they helped build Collier Oil Company, founded in 1981. What began as a local fuel business grew into a regional operation providing gasoline, diesel, oil, propane, and convenience store services throughout the Southeast. Through decades of hard work, trusted relationships, and an unwavering commitment to their customers, Collier Oil grew into a well-established regional operation before being sold in 2006.

Today

David Collier

Southfield Services

For David Collier, the fuel industry was never simply a profession. It was a way of life.

He began working at Collier Oil when he was just eight years old, learning the business from the ground up alongside his family. By the age of fourteen, he was already driving a fuel truck and making deliveries — gaining hands-on experience that shaped the leader he would become.

Following the sale of Collier Oil, David remained in the industry before purchasing Southfield Environmental from Steve Zarnichi approximately ten years ago. His goal was not simply to own a business. It was to continue a family tradition built on integrity, hard work, and serving customers with excellence.

Under David's leadership, Southfield Services has become a trusted partner for airports, military installations, municipalities, fuel distributors, and commercial customers throughout the Southeast. Customers know him as someone who treats everyone with the same level of respect — regardless of the size of the job — and as a problem solver who refuses to leave a challenge unsolved.

Treat people with respect. Solve problems with excellence.

The Future

The Fourth Generation

Today, that legacy continues through the fourth generation.

Colson, Caden, and Wilson Collier each began working alongside their father while still in high school, learning the business through hands-on experience just as the generations before them had done. As they help lead the future of Southfield Services, they remain committed to preserving the values that have guided their family for more than seven decades — while preparing the company for generations to come.

The purpose

Today, Southfield Services proudly serves airports, military installations, municipalities, fuel distributors, and commercial customers across the Southeast. While the equipment, technology, and industry have evolved dramatically since 1952, the family's purpose has remained remarkably consistent.

To serve people well.

To solve problems others cannot.

To earn trust through integrity, precision, and hard work.

Because at the end of the day, this business has never simply been about fuel.

It has been about the people who depend on it.

Every aircraft preparing for takeoff.

Every emergency vehicle answering a call.

Every military mission.

Every truck delivering goods across America.

Every community relying on safe, dependable fuel systems.

For more than seventy years, our family has been honored to play a small part in keeping those moments moving.

And that commitment continues today.

1952.

One family entered the fuel industry.

More than seventy years later…

Four generations later…

That commitment
continues.
